What’s New at Mercedes Benz?

When you think of pickup truck manufacturers, the name Mercedes-Benz doesn’t enter your mind. Nevertheless, that might be altered very quickly as Bizzee has learned.

Mercedes-Benz prepares to launch its first-ever pickup as it seeks to broaden its variety of high-end autos, as the main corporation firm Daimler AG announced Friday.

The yet-unnamed vehicle is expected to be out by the end of the decade, with initial sales focused on Europe, Latin America, Australia and South America, Daimler says.

“The Mercedes-Benz pickup will contribute nicely to our global growth targets,” Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche said in a statement. “We will enter this segment with our distinctive brand identity and all of the vehicle attributes that are typical of the brand with regard to safety, comfort, powertrains, and value.”

Mercedes-Benz Plans To Launch Luxury Pickup Trucks

Mercedes’ pickup announcement comes as sales of midsize trucks are growing worldwide.

While many details are yet to be released, the company has said they will come with 4 or 6 cylinder engines and have a payload of more than 2,000 pounds.

The trucks will first be made available in European, Latin American and South African markets. However, there are no current plans to launch them in the U.S.

The trucks, which will be smaller than pickups commonly seen in the U.S. like Ford’s F-150, will be built by the company’s commercial-van department.
