2014 Jeep Wrangler ReviewYou Will Never Believe These Bizarre Truths Behind Jeep Wrangler

Introduction

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler has a lot to offer – to a somewhat limited crowd. It is considered to be “one of the best off-road SUVs available” and ranks #11 in off-road SUVs. One reviewer called it, “one of the purest and most capable SUVs on the market today.” The Wrangler is available in a two-door model and the four-door Wrangler Unlimited. Both models come standard with a soft top; a removable hardtop is an option available on both models. The V6 is standard to both models as is the six-speed manual transmission (the five-speed automatic transmission is optional on both models).

About Wrangler

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler can trace its roots to the Willys ‘Jeep’ used in World War II. Today’s Wrangler is well-suited to off-road activity, climbing over rocks, roaring over sand dunes and crossing streams. It is equipped with standard four-wheel drive and high ground clearance. The Wrangler’s two or four doors (depending on the Wrangler model), the roof, and windshield can be removed if you are eager to more fully experience the exhilaration of off-roading or country journeys.

Depending on the model, the Wrangler accelerates from zero to 60 mph between 7.1 and 8.8 seconds. The 2-door model’s EPA-estimated fuel economy ranges between 17 mpg city/21 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined (regardless of transmission); the Unlimited rates at 16/20/18, automatic, and 16/21/18 with manual transmission. The Wrangler is equipped with antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front airbags and hill assist; front side airbags are optional. The Wrangler’s interior is more focused to pure function than high style.

Positives

The Jeep Wrangler excels at the basics for off-road driving. The 2014 models offer improved comfort and general style than their predecessors. It is highly versatile in that the roof, doors, and windshield can be removed. The standard soft top can be switched out for a T-shaped hard top, too. If you are one of those people who prefer fewer automatic functions, the Wrangler will accommodate those preferences: crank windows, manual locks and mirrors, and a tilt-only steering wheel as standard items that can be upgraded through the optional Power Convenience Group. Air conditioning is optional. Although the interior is often called “functional”, it also is considered fairly attractive and is easily cleaned – a real bonus if you’re an avid back roads driver who likes a clean Wrangler for town driving.   The V6 engine does a good job of moving the heavy SUV and recent updates have improved its overall ride comfort level.

Negatives

Despite its virtues as an off-road vehicle, the Jeep Wrangler is not as comfortable or well-suited to town driving. The front seats are considered to be “generally comfortable” but lacking in lower back support; the two-door model’s back seats are cramped. The cargo space also is limited although the five-seat Wrangler Unlimited has a somewhat larger cargo space and back seat leg room. The soft top makes the Wrangler more vulnerable to thieves. The soft top also means that passengers hear more road and wind noise.

Bizzee Summary

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler may be the off-roader’s dream and the town driver’s “cool” SUV. Town drivers will not find as many comforts built into the Wrangler, but those who drive the back roads and off roads will appreciate its versatility and overall power, especially the hill start assist feature – ideal for stopping and starting when hill climbing.
